Ming vase
They sound made-up, they have no known
derivation, but we couldn’t live without them – they’re the words for things we haven't got words for.
When you drop the priceless Ming vases, it
smashes to: smithereens
If you want to get noticed, you gotta have a: gimmick
When you become over-excited or sulky people
say you’re in a: fantigue, huff, miff, nig, snit, swivet or tig
People get up to: high jinks or shenanigans
And they have: conniption fits, the abdabs or (worse) the screaming abdabs, the fantods, the heebie jeebies, the jimjams, the jitters
Sometimes everything goes: haywire or skew-wiff
And it may effect the whole: caboodle or shemeer
In fact it was all a: farrago, gallimaufry, hodgepodge, hotchpotch, potpourri or salmagundi
Possibly because we failed to read the: blurb, bumph, gubbins, guff, rigmarole, tarradiddle or waffle
But actually it was all: balderdash, bosh, bunkum, codswallop, flapdoodle, flim-flam, flummery, gobbledygook, hocus pocus, hokum, hooey, humbug, mumbojumbo, piffle, poppycock, tomfoolery, tommyrot, tosh, twaddle
That little knob on the side is the: dojigger, doobry, doodad, doodah, doofer, doohickey, fid, fob, gidget, gizmo, oojah, oojamaflip, terwilliger, thingamajig, thingumabob, thingybob or thingywotsit
Now don’t get all… aeryated, browned off, cheesed off, miffed, narked or peeved
It was only a… dinky, footling, gimcrack, ramshackle, trifling, trumpery affair.
There was no possibility of: brouhaha, fandangle, flapdoodle, folderol, hoo-ha, hooptedoodle, hullabaloo, hurly burly, jiggery-pokery, kerfuffle, malarkey, rannygazoo, razzmatazz, riddlemeree, ructions, rumpus, skullduggery or to-do
What shall we do with all this: bauble, bricabrac, bricolage, brocante, fal-lal, filigree, folderol,
and these gewgaws, knick-knacks, trinkets and tshotshkes?
