nice guy (as in girls don’t like nice guys, nice guys finish last ect)   man who never takes the initiative and never asks women out

settle   for what you can get

settle down   partner up, shack up, have kids, get married

settled relationship   committed, married
situation (meaning whether you’re married or not) Actually means you aren’t married. (Bit like old-fashioned “trouble” and “condition” for pregnant.)
 
what may happen (as in "you never know what may happen")   meet someone and get married
