gentle humour     making fun of a harmless character (unlike savage humour, which is making fun of people who deserve to be sent up). Not funny unless you enjoy other people’s humiliation.

hilarious family comedy     grotesquely broad, cruel slapstick

irreverent     blistering satire intended to expose all establishment figures and institutions as hollow mockeries and white sepulchres

novelty     comedy, as in "novelty record"

offbeat comedy = not funny. Or else relies on a lot of twinkling by main character.

quirky humour

warm humour     like gentle humour, but more icky. Lots of “aaah” moments and twinkly-eyed characters.
