The Bible is written in poetry that name-checks
real things – grass, flowers, lost lambs. Much of it has passed into
our language. Quotes are from the
King James Version, unless otherwise specified. The KJV is a faithful
translation, and the next best thing to reading the Bible in the original
Hebrew or Greek.
